Wyher Castle

An unexpected place for a castle.

At first you wouldn't think this would be the perfect place for a castle. But smack in the middle of nowhere this amazing castle shows up in the landscape. Surrounded on all sides by farmland, it's remote location makes you wonder how is it possible that a castle could be built here.

The castle is closed to the public and is mostly used for events and weddinga and has a large number of rooms of different sizes. I could imagine that it might make for a very beautiful wedding location.

Short history

For over one hundred years (1480-1588) the Feer family was in the possession of Wyher, and for nearly 250 years (1588–1837) it was in the hands of the Pfyffer dynasty. In 1837 the castle and farm became the property of the Hüsler family, a farming family from Gunzwil. Slowly the castle complex fell into disrepair. In the summer of 1963, a fire almost completely destroyed the manor house. After the Canton of Lucerne purchased the castle ruin and established a foundation, the moated castle was restored thanks to private initiative and the support of patrons and trustees.

Since its renovation, the entire castle is available for private, business and cultural events involving groups of 20 to 300 people. It is particularly popular for wedding cocktails, with the castle gardens and courtyar
